SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24th, 3 till 6pm
PRIVATE VENUE

SALON Unruly Waters: Embracing Fluidity and In-Betweenness
with Mudassir Sheikh

This Salon invites participants to explore the concept of fluidity in its many forms. In a world often constrained by rigid binaries and artificial borders—be it in nationhood, gender or societal roles—fluidity offers a way to transcend these divides. Inspired by the unruly nature of the ocean, which resists control and classification, this theme also draws from myths and stories connected to water—such as Sufi legends and non-Western cosmologies—inviting us to consider alternative ways of knowing and being. These narratives challenge the everyday Western rationalistic impulse to define and label, offering instead a fluid, interconnected perspective.

Fluidity urges us to embrace the spaces in between and to sit with and bear witness to the discomfort and uncertainty that might arise as we reject binaries.
