about the project

HIER & JETZT: CONNECTIONS is an exchange and residency project organized by artists for artists. It is addressed to artists from B.L.O. studios and international guests with a forced migration background.
We emphasize the exchange, the collective and equitable work of all artists involved in this interdisciplinary and participative project as well as cultural and social questions of the present-day.

Together, we organize workshops and art-salons to collaborate and correlate personal artistic practices, and we present our work in progress to the public during talks and open-studio-days. The project is complemented by a series of film-screenings and lectures held by invited artists, experts, scientists, philosophers and film-makers.

The project is funded by Bezirksamt Lichtenberg, Amt für Weiterbildung und Kultur (Cultural Office of Berlin City District Lichtenberg, Art and Culture Department)

Since 2003 the B.L.O. Ateliers offer space for workshops and studios to a great variety of international artists and makers. Around 60 people work here, among which are visual artists, musicians, photographers, blacksmiths and special effects technicians.

B.L.O. engages the public through concerts, workshops, film screenings, lectures, theater and exhibitions. Since 2017 the project HIER & JETZT offers a residency program for artists in exile.
