For the second time, the exchange and residency project HIER & JETZT: Connections, is host organization for a Martin Roth-Initiative scholarship holder
In 2022 we welcome SENEM AYTAÇ, curator and film critic from Turkey. Since 2004, Senem Aytaç has been an editorial member of the renowned Turkish film magazine Altyazı and was one of its editor-in-chief for more than ten years. She is co-founder and project director of the Altyazı Cinema Association, founded in 2019 to address censorship and artistic freedom of expression in order to strengthen a free film culture in Turkey.
The Martin Roth-Initiative was launched by ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) and the Goethe-Institut as a joint project to respond to the worldwide decline of pre-political free spaces. The Martin Roth Initiative protects artists and cultural workers who are committed to artistic freedom, democracy and human rights in their home countries by enabling temporary protective stays in Germany or in third countries. Of particular importance are the cultural scenes and local civil society in the host countries, which work with the fellows during the period of support, accompany them, and enable them to develop professionally.
